Abstract :
The existence of deteriorated insulators in the insulator string is dangerous to the safety of the transmission lines. This paper studied the influence of contamination to the infrared imaging method detecting polluted deteriorated insulators without considering environmental factors by the test, and focused on analyzing the influence of the contamination severity and its status, location, type, layout and surface color of polluted deteriorated insulator, detection distance to the detection of infrared imaging method. The test results show that dry contamination on insulator surface is beneficial to the infrared imaging detection; the moist contamination, surface color of insulator and insulator string layout can affect the accuracy of detection; insulator types and contamination degree have little effect on the detection of infrared imaging method. Infrared imaging method to detect polluted deteriorated insulators in the high-voltage end is easier than those in the low-voltage end, while detecting polluted deteriorated insulator in the middle of string is the hardest.
