Abstract :
Summary form only given. Modeling the spatial statistics of sea scenes is important in detection of sea related targets. This paper derives the spatial distribution of a sea scene when observed from an IR sensor. The derived model takes into account the tilting angle of the sensor that determines the angle at which the scene is observed. In the model a general spatial statistics of the scene, as it is seen through the IR sensor, is based on the assumption that the spatial distribution of the scene itself is expressed thorough a Markov chain process. Then, special cases related to the variance of the horizon stripe and horizontal and vertical cross section distributions are addressed. The paper presents the mathematical modeling as well as computer simulations. Then, the presented model is verified using experimental result analysis.
