Abstract :
This article proposes a method of implementing the synthesis of a radiation pattern for any type of array antenna, both in a plane and in space. The algorithm presented draws upon the digital simulation of a large number of interfering signals around the array and of some useful signals whose direction and strength are related directly to the desired main lobe characteristics. The interfering signals compel the algorithm to reduce the power of signals arriving from their direction, and hence to lower the level of the secondary lobes. The algorithm also uses information supplied by the covariance matrix of signals received on the basis of a maximum likelihood technique, twinned with matching techniques. The syntheses in the plane and in space are carried out with the same basic algorithm
