Abstract :
This paper reports the interface designed for wireless data and power transmission to RFID sensor. The interface hardware was realized on four different substrates: PCB (printed circuit board), LCP (liquid crystal polymer), LTCC (low temperature co-fired ceramics) and PET (polyethylene terephthalate). Different techniques and materials were used to fabricate conductive traces adequately on each substrate. Presented techniques and materials for antenna fabrication were compared and tested in RFID application. Fabricated RFID antennas work at 13.56 MHz and measure 20.7 × 18.9 mm2 in size and have 4 turns of coil winding. Achieved measurement results show that sensors can be wirelessly powered in distance from 2 to 5 cm depending on used substrate.
