Abstract :
The simulation of naturally occurring topographical features using fractals is described. Features are indicated on an image array by position, shape, and intensity. The shape is indicated by a skeleton outlining the contours of the feature. The fractal image is created using a recursive subdivision method, also known as midpoint replacement, in conjunction with the skeleton of the feature. Images with a variety of features are presented
