Abstract :
A wavelength division multiplexing branching unit (WDM BU) is described in detail. Experiments show no impairments on system performance as the WDM BUs are inserted along the system trunk. The introduction of the WDM BU offers the possibility of deploying highly reliable undersea WDM networks with multiple landing points
