Abstract :
We present comparison between two volcano smoke patch antennas, one of them with CPW feeding and the other with microstrip feeding. Both antennas are an evolution from a circular patch structure softening the edges to obtain improvements in the antenna parameters, agreeing with the theory proposed by John Kraus. After evolution there were improvements in reflection coefficient and number of resonant frequencies throughout the operating bandwidth. The operational frequency range is from 500 MHz to 15 GHz while the best operational frequency (by design) is about 4.5 GHz. The antenna feeding impedance is proposed to be 50 ohms. There were constructed antennas with the best simulation response to test the practical performance of experiment.
