Abstract
An optimal multiband spectrum sensing algorithm is explored which jointly detects the wideband circularly symmetric complex Gaussian primary signal over multiple frequency bands. The spectrum sensing problem is formulated as a set of optimization problems, which maximizes the aggregate opportunistic throughput of a cognitive radio system under some constraints on the interference to the primary user. It is shown through mathematical transformations that these problems can be solved as convex optimization under certain practical constraints.
