Abstract :
In recent years the extreme use of power electronic converters and other non-linear loads in industry is observed that it deteriorates the power systems voltage and current waveforms. Active Harmonic Filter (AHF) will helps to enhance the quality of the distorted current waveform produced by the Non-linear load. The performance of Active Harmonic Filter still depends on various control strategies. This paper gives detailed analysis to compare and evaluate the performance of Active Harmonic Filter with the help of Instantaneous Real and Reactive power (pq) Theory and Synchronous Reference Frame (dq) Theory for generating reference current of Shunt Active Harmonic Filter (SAHF). A Proportional Integral (PI) controller and Hysteresis Current Controller (HCC) is used to get required compensation current to be injected at Point of Common Coupling (PCC). The system is validated through extensive simulation for Controlled Rectifier with the help of MATLAB-SIMULINK Tool Box.
