Abstract :
This manuscript presents a methodology for the (automatic) synthesis of industrial regulators based on arbitrarily complex, or even nonparametric, process models. Reference is made to the PID controller structure, but the underlying approach is general, and could be seamlessly extended to any regulator structure for which a model-based tuning rule can be devised. Simulation examples are reported to illustrate the benefits of the proposed approach.
