Abstract :
One potential added-value product for the utility business in a deregulated electricity market is to deliver custom designed power, meaning that the utility not only deliver the “standard” shaped electricity, but also offer the customer electricity of the shape the customer wants together with guaranteed specifications of power quality-so called premium power. Premium power is in its basic design equipment specifications for the transformation of standard electricity to this other “shape” together with the guaranteed specifications of other power quality indicators. The premium power equipment is owned by the customer and installed on the customers side of the point of common coupling (PCC). One example, that can be solved by a premium power strategy, is the delivery of DC power for data and telecommunication purposes. The trends in these markets are discussed
