  • Abstract
In conclusion, we demonstrate nearly dispersionless linear transmission of sub-500-fsec pulses over 2.5 km of fiber length using a combination of a dispersion compensating fibre DCF and a liquid crystal phase modulator (LCM). Although the demonstrated length of 2.5 km here is already suitable for local-area-networking applications based on CDMA, we have not fully utilized the phase modulation capacity of the LCM and therefore we believe a few times longer transmission distance (>10 km) is possible using the combined techniques of DCF and LCM
