Abstract :
This study proposes a Ka-band harmonic multiplying gyrotron traveling-wave amplifier (gyro-TWT), using distributed wall losses and attenuating severs, to improve the stability of the amplification and the performance of the amplifier. This study presents a nonlinear analysis of absolute instabilities in the gyro- TWT. For an axial velocity spread of 5%, the peak power of 240 kW corresponds to a saturated gain of 54 dB at interaction efficiency of 31% in the harmonic multiplying gyro-TWT amplifier.
