Abstract :
With the development of the network the Web-based multimedia application is becoming more and more popular. How to develop such a system quickly and effectively is becoming a research field. This paper introduces a multimedia subsystem in the Web-based real-time cooperative edit system and gives the way to develop a Web-based multimedia system. We first discuss the Web-based multimedia system´s architecture based on the network bandwidth, server load, haleness and so on and then put forward a hybrid system architecture. Combined with the Java media framework (JMF), real-time transport protocol (RPT), Internet group management protocol (IGMP) technology, we introduce the key steps to develop a Web-based multimedia system.
