Abstract :
Advancing coding technology and the ever-increasing capacity of storage media, widens the range of applications for video recording. Depending on the storage medium and the recording time, the complexity of the coding scheme is a difficult design choice, trading-off computational resources and the storage costs. Cost-distortion curves as discussed In this work, provide a cost-effective design choice and show the relevance for a scalable system architecture.
