Abstract
This paper introduces an innovative approach in the development process for machine vision systems. We take all system requirements into consideration, not only digital image processing but also process synchronization and process control. Strict implementation conventions for hardware and software design allow integrated performance monitoring and fault analysis. Even in a prototype stage, various algorithms and hardware components can be assessed directly in the industrial environment. After presenting the system concept in general, the implementation process is discussed for a sample application
