Abstract :
General purpose operating systems play an important role in simple, but also very computer intensive applications. These real-time applications mostly imply multimedia, but often they include computer-intensive animations. A developed application RTSMeter is intended for measurement and evaluation of operating system performance in those applications. It enables implementation of a Windows timer or threaded timer, start of a prepared 3D animation, measurement of timer interval and frame rate, as well as display of measurement results. The results obtained enable a fast evaluation of operating system performance for the execution of a real-time multimedia application on a certain hardware platform.
