Abstract :
The aim of this work is to provide in depth performance comparisons of three different transimpedance amplifier circuit topologies for InP HBT integrated photoreceivers for high dynamic range analogue optoelectronic applications. It was found that although a common-base input multi-stage feedback topology provided the best compressive dynamic range, a 4-stage distributed amplifier yielded 2.8 times the gain-bandwidth product while providing a comparable spurious-free dynamic range.
