Abstract :
Investigates the effect of different binarization threshold schemes such as average, median, and segmented thresholding on the correlation peak intensity of a binary joint transform correlator (JTC). The optical implementation of a real-time JTC using two liquid crystal television displays and a charge-coupled device (CCD) detector array is considered. Simulation results show that the median thresholding yields the highest correlation peak intensity, but needs maximum computation time. Segmented thresholding yields better autocorrelations peaks and requires about 50% less computation time than median thresholding
