Abstract :
Single-chip impulse-radio ultra-wideband (IR-UWB) transmitter and receiver have been developed by 0.18 ¿m CMOS technology. Bit error rate (BER) using on-board bow-tie antenna was measured. Wired interconnection between transmitter and receiver gave the upper limit of BER = 1 × 10-12 at 95 % confidence level. In the case of the wireless interconnection, BER was measured for several distances with spurious environments, and BER = 6.89 × 10-9 was obtained. Measured BER was fitted by error function with respect to the signal to noise ratio.
