Abstract :
This paper presents new approach for transparency measurements in different applications (e.g. in glass industry, plastic fibre industry, etc). The opacity-meter is based on the simple principle of light-intensity measurement using photo-diode or photocell and a constant light source. In conventional opacity-meter, companies are also using the similar combination of light source and photo-diode or photocell. But my approach is different in two ways, the technique used for temperature compensation and the technique used for humidity/fog compensation. Temperature and humidity/fog/water-molecules compensation is required because photo-diode or photocell behaves differently in different temperature i.e. in summer and in winter, 50°C to 0°C. All the companies are employing complex analytical temperature compensation techniques using micro controller. For removal of water-molecules on the testing glass-window, companies are using hot air blower. In my approach, neither any hot air blower is used to remove water molecules on the glass window nor is any temperature compensation technique required. This technique is capable of producing stable output even for wide range of temperatures and humidity variations, where the conventional method may fail to perform adequately. This new technique has been successfully implemented in the Lab.
