Abstract
This paper presents the rationale and content of an undergraduate course, “Technology and You”, for nonengineering students. In addition to increasing the awareness of the importance, role and impact of technology to modern society, the course introduces the students to all aspects of the field of engineering, with special emphasis on design and failure. The motivation for such a course, its philosophical basis, the problems encountered in its development and the reaction from students are discussed
