Abstract :
In this paper, we experimentally and theoretically identify decrease of 3rd-order intermodulated signal at a high input RF power in a traveling-wave electroabsorption modulator (TW-EAM) by using the effect of abnormal notches those do not appear at the IMD3 results from the general transfer function of the device. This effect is known to be sensitive to the applied wavelength, the input RF power, and the bias. In spite of the sensitiveness, this effect can efficiently be used for analog application in RF-optic communication systems with an RF automatic power control.
