Abstract :
This paper introduces a basic technique for drawing non-photorealistic images of volume models. The turtle graphics approach to imitating painting operations is implemented in 3D space. Objects are defined by sets of scattered range data. Analytically (that is, functionally represented) and procedurally defined geometric objects can also be used. The proposed technique is described in detail and painting examples that demonstrate its applicability to non-photorealistic rendering or hatching are provided.
