Abstract
This paper provides a summary of a presentation on “Dynamic Reactive Compensation,” for a session sponsored by the DC and FACTS Education Working Group, under the DC and FACTS Subcommittee of the T&D Committee. This paper and the presentation at the conference meant to be tutorial in nature. This paper summarizes the phases of a power systems planning study for the installation of flexible ac transmission system (FACTS) devices to provide dynamic reactive compensation. Modeling guidelines for the FACTS devices are presented.
