Abstract
The aim of the study was to evaluate whether cyclic variation of integrated backscatter (CVIB) measurements allow discrimination between normal and acutely ischemic myocardium as well as infarcted areas. Second, whether this parameter permits an early assessment of the success of revascularization procedures (accelerated rtPA-thrombolysis or acute PTCA). CVIB was measured frame by frame within normal and injured myocardium in 14 patients with acute myocardial infarction. CVIB rapidly detected infarcted zones and allowed early noninvasive assessment of the success of revascularization procedures in all patients
