Abstract :
The modeling and optimization of multilayer materials in free space by TOUCHSTONE are described. These materials may be composed of lossy dielectric, resistive sheet, and frequency selective surface. Simulation results are presented for a Dallenbach screen and for a frequency selective surface inserted in a lossy dielectric. The examples presented show that it is possible to simulate and optimize many kinds of devices in free space with TOUCHSTONE, using equivalent microwave circuits. It is possible to characterize the behavior of a frequency selective surface in a lossy dielectric as long as high-order modes are negligible.<>
