  • Abstract
Pervasive health monitoring is an eHealth service, which plays an important role in prevention and early detection of diseases. In health monitoring systems, a loss or an excessive delay of the critical data may cause a fatal accident. Therefore it is important to provide Quality of Service (QoS) guarantee for the delivery of data streams. In this paper, we formulate the QoS optimization problem, which jointly optimizes the transmission power and the transmission rate at each aggregator to provide QoS guarantee to data delivery. The optimization problem is converted into a convex optimization problem, which can be solved efficiently. We demonstrate in the simulations that the proposed optimized scheme improves the service quality of the health monitoring system in terms of delay and Packet Loss Rate (PLR).
