Abstract
The authors present a technique for the efficient computation of the periodic Green´s function in layered dielectric media. A complex image scheme is first used to develop a simple closed form for the spatial Green´s function of a single point source. With this spatial Green´s function, the Poisson summation formula is then applied to yield a rapidly convergent mixed spectra-spatial series representation of the periodic Green´s function. Numerical examples confirm the dramatic improvement achieved by utilizing this efficient series representation for the computation of the periodic Green´s function.<>
