Abstract :
The experimental research, design, and testing of a high-performance circularly polarized microstrip array antenna operating at Ka band are described. A simple and robust design of a 16-element circularly polarized microstrip array is presented. It utilizes four newly invented high-performance circularly polarized microstrip array antenna clusters. The antenna elements used are square microstrips, although a circular one will do as well. A single probe feed excites the 16-element array and the center frequency of this design is chosen to be 29.5 GHz. The array was designed on a 10-mil low-loss duroid substrate. Return loss measurements obtained from a sample array are shown, and the antenna gain pattern is presented.<>
