Abstract
A automatic region segmentation method based on mathematical morphology is presented. This method is composed of morphological filtering, multiresolution morphological decomposition, morphological gradient transform, hit/miss transform etc. In applications to CT image region segmentation, it is shown that this approach bears higher level of segmentation accuracy, consistency and robustness to various cases compared to most other existing approaches
