  • Abstract
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space (LMMS) and Ultralife Batteries, Inc. (UBI) are developing lithium-ion solid polymer electrolyte (Li-ion SPE) batteries for portable electronics and space power applications. UBI has developed baseline Li-ion SPE technology that is competitive with commercial liquid-electrolyte technology. Five and 10 Ah cells have been manufactured and used to assemble prototype BB2590 portable and 30 V, 50 Ah space/marine batteries. Under a new program, UBI and LMMS will team with Eagle Picher Technologies, Sandia National Laboratory and the Rentech Inc. to continue development of this technology
