Abstract :
A high-speed parallel computer board has been designed for use as a module in a color image compression and transmission system. The computer board´s architecture provides high computational power, improved input/output (I/O) of image data, and flexibility for a variety of image processing applications. While the initial application of the board is as a testbed for image compression algorithms, other applications include image enhancement, fusion of data from different sources, and stereoscopic image processing.<>
