Abstract :
Summary form only given. Many new modern management approaches have been introduced in order to survive in the intense competition of the global market. Benchmarking, total quality management, learning organisation, manufacturing resources planning, total productive maintenance, and business process reengineering are some of them. While entering the 21st century, Turkey, as a rapidly developing country, has aimed to take a place in the international markets. For that reason it has signed Custom Union (CU) Agreement with EC countries and declared its intent to join the EC. This means that all Turkey´s companies must be ready for competing at the sharpest edge of global markets. Turkey´s companies must achieve breakthrough performance enhancements to reach the EC´s continuously improving companies´ level. So what is the need then? Radical redesign and management of systems, policies, structures and finally the culture. Focusing on Turkey´s specific conditions, it seems only BPR can promise to gain a sustainable advantage in competition in order to survive. In that way, we have been trying to establish a systematic methodology for Turkey´s companies to apply the BPR principals by a specific model which allows them to gain necessary breakthrough performance enhancement. Although it is for Turkey´s specific conditions, our model may be a sample for many developing countries and can be used with simple modifications. Our proposed model aims to clarify the rules of BPR for companies which are interested in investing in it
