Abstract
This paper presents the development of an expert system TPAISA for fault analysis of analog problems in power system control. The objectives are to identify the problem analogs and to establish the fault diagnosis for each analog signal. These objectives are accomplished by building the knowledge base which contains the heuristics of the expert and using it to identify the problem analogs and the equipment responsible for it. The knowledge base has been divided into three different modules, and a blackboard architecture for efficient use of the modules is developed. The approach is validated by experimental results carried on the actual power system
