Abstract
This paper presents findings on the impact of host country-specific factors on the processes and technologies of several Asia-based plants of UK and US firms. The perceptions of host country-based manufacturing managers regarding cultural, economic, governmental and infrastructural characteristics are related to the process and technology decisions/policies of the firms in China and the Philippines. The paper draws on empirical evidence from plant observations and interviews with expatriate managers in the two host countries as well as in the UK
