Abstract
Most of the cellular operators concentrate their networks in urban areas due to higher revenues, economic viability etc. The rural scenario in India in terms of cellular communication does not present a bright picture. Hence urban propagation modeling gained lot of importance. To identify suitable prediction methods for Indian rural zones, train based measurements were conducted in northern and western rural zones of India by monitoring the carrier level of track side base stations inside a moving train. The results are compared with various models and the results are presented in this paper.
