Abstract :
This empirical study investigates the socio demographic typology of customers who used the internet as a medium of information for tourism services and products. Students at three public universities namely Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam, Universiti Malaya and International Islamic University were selected as sample. Study findings clearly indicate that young consumers enjoy using the internet and perceive it as a useful information medium. Among the most popular tourism web sites used by young customers when planning and arranging pleasure holiday were direct service provider web sites, Airlines web site and Mega travel web sites. Research findings also provided clear insight into the reality that various search engines are widely used as a primary means of identifying a specific tourism web site.
