MPEG2 4:2:2@ML-from concept to an implementation

There is a growing interest in using MPEG2 in the studio and post production environment. We describe Tektronix´ contribution to the standard, starting from the introduction of the concept of 4:2:2 Profile@Main Level, all the way to a hardware realization of 4:2:2 Profile@Main Level. Operating up to 50 Mb/s, MPEG-2 4:2:2 Profile@ML provides higher quality to support multigeneration and digital special effects, in addition to providing higher spatial and chroma resolution
