Abstract :
The ministry of energy, Thailand has set a target to install 140-250 MWp PV systems in Thailand by the year of 2011. Important strategies to reach the target include a Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) Program and a feed-in tariff program. In Thailand there are five solar module manufacturing companies with the total production capacity of about 85 MWp/Y. Solartron, the only renewable energy-based company listed in the stock-exchange of Thailand (SET), is the biggest solar module company with the capacity of 30 MWp/Y and it is going to start the production of multicrystalline silicon solar cells by the Q2 of 2007 with the capacity of 25 MWp/Y. During 2004-2005, the 24.36 MWp Solar Home Project which uses 203,000 modules (120 Wp/each) has been implemented by the ministry of interior and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA). From 2006, the PV market in Thailand is expected to grow by the rate of 30% year-on-year
