Abstract
Self-limiting heating cable designs utilizing polycrystalline power disc technology are presented. These cables are capable of delivering a wide range of wattages for process applications, limiting their output using changes in temperature. The construction characteristics, qualifications, installation, and operating characteristics of polycrystalline power disc cables are examined. The cables´ output is not substantially affected by applied voltage or by exposure to temperatures up to the temperature rating of their electrical insulation
