Abstract
A new measuring system (TOS96), based on near infrared spectroscopy, is presented for noninvasive evaluation of the cerebral regional oxygen saturation (rSO2) and volume of hemoglobin (HbI). To measure more simply, a reflectance sensor that consists of one photodiode (PD) and light emitting diodes (LEDs) with three wavelengths was designed. This paper suggests an experimental method of calculation from in vitro models, and quantitates oxygenation state with rSO2 and HbI. The results of clinical application of this system show the availability as a monitor of cerebral regional oxygenation state
