  • Abstract
The paper shows how finite element model may be used to simulate the effect of short circuit fault in the stator winding of multiphase cage induction machine [1–4]. The proposed analysis is carried out for incident faults and the 3-phase winding currents are investigated. Since the stator winding short circuit faults are one of the most common and potentially destructive electrical faults in induction motors a short circuit in one coil is considered in this study. The Flux 2D numerical model is validated against experimental results and analytical simulations in PC-IMD [2].
