  • Abstract
Being competitive in today´s world market requires that companies be able to bring products to market in as short a time as possible, while at the same time satisfying the needs of customers. The introduction of Total Quality Management (TQM) concepts and standards such as ISO9000 require that the product development process becomes more disciplined. The application of systems engineering techniques on a project can achieve the needed discipline. The application of project management concepts are essential in creating a development plan, schedule and in allocating resources
