Abstract :
A prototype version of an image processing system for nut quality control is presented. The measurement of diameters and heights proved correct and the precision reached corresponded to the required tolerance of 0.3 mm. The measurement corresponding to the presence of a protrusion depends on the nut orientation. For the threading, the quality of the measurement depends on the quality of the original image. This feasibility study has proved the usefulness of image processing in the automation of inspection of industrial products
