    This paper presents a research on a simplified applied method for shear bearing capacity of externally prestressed concrete beams. According to shear failure process of externally prestressed concrete test beams, limited balanced method for shear bearing capacity of externally prestressed concrete beams is deduced, and failure strength criterion for concrete zone under shear and compression of externally prestressed concrete beams is established, the feasibility of this method is proved through shear test results of 9 externally prestressed concrete beams.
