  • Abstract
    We demonstrate an efficient and simple method of analyzing a mode converter consisted of optical fiber directional coupler, by using FFT beam propagation method (FFT-BPM) and coupled mode theory (CMT), based on effective index method that approximates an optical fiber into a two-dimensional structure of a 3-layer and 5-layer slab waveguide
