Abstract :
The ASPIRE Business Model incorporates the essential business features that will enable and foster exceptional reliability as a market differentiator. The key features are: (1) create a win-win scenario from the outset, fostering success in both manufacturer and customer objectives whilst simultaneously working within technical, business and legislative limitations; (2) focus reliability on maximising achievement of customer objectives and, though judicious choice of technical and customer metrics, create market leading opportunities; (3) ensure that methods and processes used during design and manufacturing gain maximum efficiency-speed of reliability achievement, effectiveness and cost. These together provide the basis, but exceptional reliability remains dependent on design and manufacturing effort. The model is best implemented during design concept and pre-contractual discussions, using white-board ´brainstorming´ techniques to identify new design opportunities and to avoid unnecessary business restrictions.
