Abstract
The mathematical concepts defined in Einstein´s special and general relativity in 1905 and the years which followed, are routinely applied to many energy conversion engineering applications which are common today. Because of routine familiarity we have lost sight of the origin of the mathematical concepts. The aim of this paper is to review several applications and relate the mathematical concepts directly to Einstein´s original 1905 and later papers. However, the scope of the following summary has been limited to highlighting the bottom-line equations involved in specific engineering applications. The applications are laser internal gyroscope, and solar sail energy conversion. Metric space contraction by gravity, and bending of light rays by gravity are discussed
