Abstract :
The finger image identification method described uses the image of the entire finger, especially the finger joint line patterns, instead of the fingerprint. This method makes it possible to verify a person´s identity in less than 0.1 s. Since the feature is extracted by integrating a finger image, it is not sensitive to noise. Because the algorithm is simple, the software/hardware system can be realized at a low cost. Experiments based on the finger features of 508 people resulted in an error rate of 9.6% type-1 errors and 0.1% type-2 errors
